Search a museum collection
Search The Metropolitan Museum of Art by artist, subject or artwork. Museum catalogs contain objects, descriptions and images with different rights situations. A search match alone is not enough to establish that a particular image is available for reuse.
This studio requires an explicit public-domain flag and a supported museum image. It checks the object record again before serving an image. A page can therefore contain fewer eligible artworks than the underlying search total. Try a more specific query or the next page when appropriate.
Inspect the source before preparing a print
The source record identifies the artwork, artist, date and museum credit line. Keep that context rather than treating the image as an anonymous decoration. A museum can revise metadata or replace an image, so the check time belongs in the source record.
The tool does not copy long curatorial descriptions into your print package. It retains the core catalog identification and links back to the museum. The source card is designed to travel with the image when you organize or share your files.
Understand the rights boundary
CC0 and public-domain designations are useful evidence about copyright status, but they do not imply endorsement or resolve every other right. A museum name or mark should not be used to suggest an official product when the print is your own.
For a personal print, keep the source card for reference. For a commercial or sensitive context, review the museum’s current record and the relevant context of use. The studio provides a documented source workflow rather than a legal clearance service.
