Match the paper and opening
Measure the frame or paper in millimeters, then choose a minimum white border. The remaining opening must have positive width and height. The tool rejects a border that would consume the entire page rather than producing an empty print.
Fit mode keeps all four image edges. If the artwork ratio differs from the opening, two sides receive more white space. This is often useful when the full composition matters more than filling every part of a standard frame.
Review a center crop before committing
Center crop scales the image until the opening is filled, then clips the excess equally around the center. The preview shows that composition and reports the removed area. Check signatures, important figures and edges before downloading.
The PDF clips the original image within the page; the separate JPEG download remains unmodified. Keeping that original lets you make a different layout later without repeatedly cropping an already altered copy.
Package the result with its record
Download the PDF for printing and the HTML or JSON source record for your archive. The record includes the museum link, rights check time, credit line, physical dimensions and effective PPI. It makes the print’s origin understandable after the browser tab is closed.
Review a sample at actual size before ordering multiple copies. The PDF is a layout file, not a printer profile or a guarantee about paper and ink. If you change paper size later, recalculate the layout and resolution instead of relying on an old preview.
